Braces
Technological breakthroughs occur at a rapid pace, and orthodontics is no exception. Dr. Burk and Dr. Flinn provide state-of-the-art treatment for a variety of orthodontic problems. They specialize in high-tech appliances, such as Damon “high-efficiency” braces, clear cosmetic braces and "braceless" alternatives such as Invisalign. They also use cutting-edge options such as the MARA growth modification appliance, micro-anchorage systems and the OrthoCad precision bracket placement system.
Damon Self-Ligating Braces
Self-ligation, an innovative development in clinical technology, makes orthodontic treatment more efficient and more comfortable than ever before. The traditional treatment involving tying archwires in with elastic ties causes friction. This involves heavier forces to move the teeth, resulting in a longer treatment time. Self-ligation appliances have a built-in “sliding door” that holds the wire in place while allowing it to slide freely back and forth. This system allows the use of high-tech, light-force wires to achieve tooth movement. This results in less pressure to the teeth, thus more comfortable treatment. Treatment time can be dramatically reduced. It also means fewer adjustments and less frequent office visits to achieve treatment goals.
Clear Cosmetic Braces
These clear braces virtually disappear in your mouth. With the superior aesthetics of clear braces, you can create the smile you have always dreamed of without the look of metal.
Invisalign®
If the thought of wearing braces is all that is stopping you from getting the smile you've always wanted, we have great news for you. Align Technology has named Dr. Burk & Dr. Flinn Invisalign® “Premiere Providers”. As Premiere Providers they are in the top 5% of doctors in the country who treat with the Invisalign® technique. Invisalign® is a breakthrough in orthodontics that uses a series of clear, virtually undetectable tooth aligners to gradually move your teeth. This is done without metal wires and brackets. Aligners are removable and custom-made for your mouth. This is accomplished with the latest three-dimensional computer technology. Invisalign® is the "braceless" way to straighten your teeth and improve your smile. Click Here to read more >>
Distal Jet
The Distal Jet is an appliance that has virtually eliminated the need for headgear. This appliance efficiently and effectively moves the maxillary (upper) molars back to correct protruding upper teeth. This appliance is comfortable and not reliant on patient compliance.
HERBST (CBJ/cantaliever Bite Jumper)
At times when a patient is deficient in the growth of the lower jaw, the HERBST appliance can be used. The HERBST will posture the patient's lower jaw in a forward direction. During treatment, this forward posture promotes growth and repositioning in the same direction. The HERBST can be worn in conjunction with braces. Its effectiveness does not depend on patient compliance.
Winding Wizard
This expansion appliance is designed to address narrow arches, allowing teeth more room for eruption and correction. The result is a broader, more appealing smile. Dr. Burk designed this appliance and published it internationally. He personally fabricates each patient’s appliance. For more information please click on the below link:

Micro-anchorage System
These tiny orthodontic “anchors” are practically unnoticeable and have revolutionized the scope of orthodontic options. They create effective, temporary anchorage points to move teeth. They may be used as a substitute for headgear. They are also ideal for open bites and adult cases in which multiple teeth are missing.
Lingual Braces
These braces are created using state-of-the-art technology and are placed on the lingual, or tongue, side of your teeth, so they are hidden from view. No one will know that you are wearing braces unless you tell them. They are 100% customized and designed with patient comfort in mind.
There are many good candidates for either Invisalign or lingual braces, including:
- Teens and adults who do not want braces that show.
- Athletes.
- Musicians who play wind instruments.
- Adults and teens involved in public speaking, theater or music.
- Adult professionals.
- Models.
