Retention
When your orthodontic treatment is completed, you enter the retention stage of your treatment. Your retainers should be worn at all times with the exception of brushing your teeth and when participating in sports or swimming. After 6-8 weeks of full-time wear, we may revise your retention treatment, allowing the retainer to mostly be worn at night. Remember to remove them before brushing, and brush them before placing them back in your mouth.
You must be very careful when handling your removable retainers, as they are fragile and costly to replace. You are given a special case for them, so please make sure you keep them in this case when not wearing them. To clean the retainers, brush them with liqued hand soap using warm water.
Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far!
