Scheduling Appointments
We are sensitive to the fact that you and your family have many daily obligations, and have devoted considerable time and effort in designing our scheduling system. We want to see you on time so we’ll have adequate time to do all necessary procedures, answer questions and keep you updated on treatment progress.

Longer appointments, which are scheduled occasionally, are during school or work hours. This allows us to offer a greater number of shorter appointments to as many patients as possible during the after-school or work hours.

Arriving on time will permit us to complete the treatment planned for the appointment. Your next visit should be made before leaving the office. We typically schedule our adjustment appointments 6 to 12 weeks apart to minimize school and work absences.

Missed Appointments
Our office offers e-mail reminders as well as HouseCalls, a sophisticated computer software program, to call and remind patients of their appointments. HouseCalls will typically call two days in advance, giving you an additional day to plan for your appointment in our office.

If you would like, we can e-mail you your appointment reminder.  Simply e-mail appointments@smilesmadebeautiful.com and provide us with your e-mail address.

In the event that you must change an appointment, we ask for at least 24 hours notice. Missed appointments or numerous appointment changes will inevitably result in an extension of treatment time. Our goal in rescheduling appointments is to keep your treatment progressing and on time. Waiting for a convenient after-school appointment can sometimes delay treatment.

Broken Appliances
If you have a problem with your braces, please call prior to your appointment. We may have to reschedule to provide adequate time for repairs. If you arrive for a short appointment with a problem, we may not have the necessary time to repair it. When in doubt, just give us a call. Please be aware that excessive breakage of your braces and appliances may delay treatment time.

Emergencies
For an emergency visit, please contact our office. Emergencies are defined as problems which are causing pain, bleeding or swelling. If you have an emergency which requires immediate attention after office hours, please call the main telephone number, 301-977-4200, for the doctor on call.
