About the Doctors
Drs. Burk, Flinn and Goodman are accomplished in modern orthodontic appliances and have extensive experience in child growth and development treatment, adult orthodontics and non-extraction procedures. All three doctors graduated with honors from dental school. They routinely continue their education by attending advanced seminars in orthodontics and dentistry. In addition, Burk and Flinn Orthodontics sponsors continuing education courses throughout the year for the dental community.
Saul M. Burk, DDS, MS
Dr. Burk has been practicing orthodontics exclusively for over twenty-five years. He was an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University for many years, teaching dental students and orthodontic residents the science of dentistry and orthodontics. Dr.Burk’s peers have recognized him as an Orthodontist of Choice in multiple publications such as the Washingtonian Magazine. Dr. Burk’s professional education includes a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) degree from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree (M.S.) from Georgetown University where he received his orthodontic training. He has lectured to local and international dental professionals, and was featured on the Today Show. Along with lecturing and writing, Dr. Burk has been involved in new product evaluation and development with a leading international orthodontic company.
Outside of orthodontics, Dr.Burk enjoys exercising, golf and travel with his wife Debby. Dr. Burk is also an avid admirer of art and enjoys going to galleries with his wife, who is an artist.
Wanda Flinn, DDS, MS
Dr. Flinn has been named a “Top Orthodontist” in both Washington Consumer Checkbook and Washingtonian Magazine. She conducted research related to craniofacial growth which was presented and published in medical journals internationally. She was invited on multiple occasions to serve as an international reviewer and judge for emerging research in the dental field. Dr. Flinn is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. In addition, she is a consulting staff doctor at the prestigious Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic, where she treats patients with severe facial and orthodontic problems. She continues to expand her knowledge by taking advanced courses in complex multi-disciplinary dentistry and cosmetic orthodontic technology. Dr. Flinn has completed several rigorous programs at the respected Spear Education Center, “Dawson Center for the Advancement of Dentistry,” and the “Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education.” She lectures frequently to members of the dental and medical community to share her expertise.
Besides teeth, love of music is Dr. Flinn’s greatest passion. She has performed locally with the British Players, Victorian Lyric Opera Company, and Choral Arts Society of Washington. She also enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband Ed and daughter Amanda.
Madeleine Goodman, DMD
Dr. Madeleine Goodman graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University. She then attended the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine, where she graduated first in her class. She completed a fellowship in advanced dentistry at the New York Methodist Hospital, and then continued up the east coast to Tufts in Boston, where she completed her orthodontic residency. She worked for a year in a pediatric dental office, which gives her a gentle manner and the patience to treat even the most anxious patients. She is a member of the American Academy of Laser Dentistry. Dr. Goodman also serves as a guest lecturer at Washington Hospital Center’s orthodontic program.
Dr. Goodman grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, where she graduated from the Holton-Arms School. When not straightening teeth, she can be found running, playing soccer, cooking, or spending time with her fiancé, Tim.
